South Puget Sound Community College student Stephanie Hoff hopes to one day open her own gallery and possibly an art studio as well.
Hoff will be featured in the upcoming Postcard Exhibit as well as the end of the year Student Art Show.
Enrolled at SPSCC since winter 2009, Hoff has taken the drawing, watercolors, painting, and ceramics classes as an art student.
Painting and drawing have been a part of her life since childhood, but Hoff more recently took up ceramics, and thoroughly enjoyed her experiences with a different type of media in the class. She enjoyed her recent ceramics class because it was a style of art completely new to her.
Hoff holds a large variety of art interests. Her artwork shows her creativity and that she is open to various styles, she said.
Hoff’s favorite piece of art that she created while in her ceramics class is a vase etched with fossils. This piece will be displayed in the Student Art Show upon recommendation of her ceramics professor Joe Batt.
“I think I’m really good at drawing still life,” said Hoff. “I’m good at the three dimensional aspects.”
In upcoming quarters Hoff plans to take print making, art history, and photography.
“I think art is a really good way to portray emotions,” she said when describing how she uses art to express herself.
