The Athletic Department has formed the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The committee consists of representatives from each sports team on campus; men’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and softball.
It is a student run committee with the purpose to build a bridge between student-athletes and the athletic director. The goal is to enhance the experience at SPSCC by encouraging opportunity, protecting student-athlete welfare, and to promote a positive image through leadership, service learning, and a helping hand to the community.
SAAC will provide the student-athletes with an environment to express their opinions, concerns, and new ideas. “I’m excited that the athletic department has a voice, it gives us an opportunity to give back to the community and hopefully get more people involved,” said Jordanne Krumpols, softball team representative.
Two players from each team have been chosen by their coaches. The following athletes were voted to fill positions: SAAC Committee Chair is Devon Dieckman, Co-chair is Dustin Loffler, Treasurer is Maria Jesse, and Secretary is Dramikha Skaar.
Every athlete is encouraged to speak with their team’s representative and are welcome to attend the meetings. The next meeting will be held on Dec. 5 in room 121 of building 27, the Student Union Building. The advisors for the SAAC are Pam Charpentier, athletic director, and Mychael Heuer, head women’s basketball coach.
