The SPSCC Men’s basketball team finished the first half of the regular season on Jan. 22 against the number one team in the Western Conference: the Clark Community College Penguins. The Clippers lost with the final score being 47-73.
The Clippers hold a record of 1 win and 6 losses and was ranked ninth in the league. With half of the season left, the Clippers look to improve on their record and advance to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College championships. “We really need to work on execution and clutch time plays. We need to maintain our intensity level and energy throughout the game,” said Slanblaytee Kaye, point gaurd.
Kaye is averaging 14.92 points and 5 assists this season. Brian Tyson, Clipper forward, is averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds.
Upcoming home games will be Jan. 29 against Lower Columbia College at 8 p.m., Feb. 5 against Pierce College at 8 p.m., and Feb. 8 against Tacoma Community College at 5 p.m. The last home game of the season will be against Highline Community College on Feb. 15 where the teams will honor the sophomore class, at 5 p.m.
