The SPSCC Women’s basketball team traveled to Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) for their first scrimmage of the 2013-14 season on Nov. 6. The scrimmage was held at the Olson Gym on the PLU campus in Tacoma. This year is all about creating a new name for the SPSCC Clippers and with the addition of nine new recruits and two returners, they will rely on “chemistry and depth,” said Stephanee Stedham, Clipper guard.
This was a scrimmage so therewas no score taken. “It was a time for the team to play together for the first time and learn more about each other; I think we did really well. There are obviously some things we need to fix and go over, but once they’re fixed we’ll be very competitive,” said Stedham.
The purpose for the scrimmages are to improve team chemistry, work on plays, and highlight the different parts of the game that need improvement.
“The effort was there on everyone’s part, and once all our individual pieces come together we’ll be able to flow better as one whole unit. This was an opportunity for the girls to play together for the first time. We all come from different backgrounds and there is still a lot to learn but I think it was a good start.” said Maria Jesse, Clipper post.
