The construction on Building 22 is to be completed by August, said Assistant Capital Project Manager, Craig Miller. This date is only a month later than the original target, which was July, he said.
The project is also coming out to be a bit over budget, Miller said. He said the higher cost is not for one specific reason, but for a combination of many small factors that were anticipated when the original estimates were being done.
As the future home of departments such as Student Services, the Library, Learning Support Services, and eLearning, Building 22 will provide new opportunities for “better interaction between college staff and students,” President Tim Stokes said.
At 90,000 square feet, Building 22 will be an unusually large community college facility, which are usually about 70,000 square feet at the largest, said Miller.
